Immigration

Mike strongly supports efforts to stop illegal immigration, strengthen our borders, and discourage illegal immigration in the United States because illegal immigrants drain resources and opportunities from Americans. 

As a member of the Immigration Reform Caucus, Mike supports the Bipartisan Reform of Immigration through Defining Good Enforcement (BRIDGE) Resolution which lays out commonsense guidelines for immigration reform.  Mike has committed to the following principals:

• Reject amnesty and any legal status which pardons people who are here in violation of our laws
• Require E-Verify for all employers, and also hold employees accountable
• Provide sufficient border equipment and manpower to secure and control our borders

Additionally, Mike is an original cosponsor of the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE Act) – a 3-point plan to reduce illegal immigration. The bill tackles border security by increasing manpower, technology, and infrastructure needs on our northern and southern borders.  The SAVE Act also shields American workers, legal foreign workers, and law-abiding businesses from the unfair competition created by a large illegal workforce. 

Mike is also a co-sponsor of the English Language Unity Act, which would declare English the official language of the United States.  Our common language must not be compromised, as it has allowed generations of Americans to realize the dream of American opportunity and freedom.
